New Mobile Phone Policy Added To PHS, Briar Handbooks

New Mobile Phone Policy Added To PHS, Briar Handbooks

The Perkins Local School Board of Education voted to amend the student handbooks for Perkins High School and Briar Middle School at its meeting on Wednesday.

When PHS students return from holiday break on Monday, January 5, they will no longer be allowed to have access to their phones, earbuds, and Bluetooth-connected devices during the school day. Students will have to store the devices in a locked Yondr pouch that they will be issued.

Briar students will not be allowed to have their phones during the day, effective Tuesday, January 13. Like PHS students, the Briar students will be issued a Yondr pouch to store their phones.

The Yondr pouches will be secured each school day morning, and opened at the end of each school day.

The amended handbook policy also details in-school suspensions and other penalties for students who violate the phone policy.
