Perkins Youth Theatre To Debut At Meadowlawn

The newly created Perkins Youth Theatre program will host its first rehearsals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, in the gymnasium at Meadowlawn Intermediate School.

The opening session, themed “So You Wanna Be On Stage,” is open to students in Grades 3-8. Participants will learn the basics of theater at the introductory session. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers, and bring a water bottle and a completed permission slip.

Interested students should sign up to participate by completing this form. There is a limited number of participants.

The group will meet monthly. On Thursday, November 6, the group will host a “Dance Your Heart Out” session focused on movement and how to audition. The meeting will be at Meadowlawn.

On Thursday, December 4, the theater group will host auditions in the Perkins High School auditorium.

Perkins Youth Theater is being organized by Furry Elementary Assistant Principal Dwayne Arnold and Furry teacher Pamela Shirtz. The group will provide students with the opportunity to participate in an activity to foster relationships, sportsmanship, and character. The group’s mission is to inspire creativity through performance, workshops, and collective projects.
